St. Joseph School has a long history of educating children in the South Bronx. It opened in 1877. Today the school serves 492 students of all faiths in Pre-K3 through 8th Grade. St. Joseph offers all children the individual attention they deserve to reach their potential and to succeed inside and outside of school.
With an average class size of 25 students and extended school hours (8:00am to 4:30pm), St. Joseph has the atmosphere of a close-knit family. The school’s safe, nurturing and motivating environment encourages our students’ passion for learning while instilling in them strict discipline and values.

St. Joseph School is supported by an Advisory Board chaired by Jill Zucker of McKinsey & Co. The Board meets eight times a year to assist St. Joseph with strategic planning and financial management. The school is also fortunate to work with the Partnership for Inner-City Education, a support program for inner-city parochial elementary schools. Through this program, many generous donors support St. Joseph School.
